Nintendo DS why it will win handheld race.

Post by The_Man »

"The Nintendo DS will change the future of handheld gaming," says Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. "Dual screens, chat functions, a touch screen, wireless capabilities, voice recognition -- these abilities surpass anything attempted before, and consumers will benefit from the creativity and innovation the new features bring to the world of video games."

Sure you could say its to much for a handheld, but with a system that doesn't have those features and doesn't have games built with those features i think you will find those games boring compared to DS. I've read about PSP and it is just a super gameboy in my opinion.

I think a Pocket PC with nVidia's GoForce 3D 4500 would have better graphics. But for people who want to pay less, the Nintendo DS looks awesome.

Pocket PC ins't build for gaming, sure it may be better, but when you copare it to the capabilities of the DS it won't win, plus its built for gaming i mean it can produce better graphics then a GameCube and thats pretty powerful for a handheld.

The PSP looks cooler, and probably does have an awsome lcd, u probably not talking about the psp, but it lacks in certain features that DS has and it will lose, the only reason it will be popular is the SFB people who think nintendo sucks because the gamecube wasn't as good as PS2 therefore DS will suck,

Actually it's called "Playstation Portable" not "Personal".. Furthermore, anyone that has witnessed the extreme convienience of a PSP will not disagree that it is the best handheld console ever made. It is a portable picture viewer, movie player, mp3 player, and not to mention video gaming system. The video games for PSP are an extreme improvement in the portable world and the Nintendo DS can not compare to it's smooth gameplay and incredible graphics. If you want to pay less, don't, wait until you have enough and buy PSP, because DS is not worth your money. The only reason why it got so popular is because of the Utada Hikaru-sponsored "Nintendogs". Utada Hikaru makes THE most money in Japan, and she is an extremely successful pop star, selling over 33 million albums (that's waaay more than Britney Spears) world-wide. Anything she touches turns to marketing gold. That is why DS became so popular in Japan, and Nintendogs sold like crazy there because of Utada. Nintendo of course decided to make Nintendogs English as well, and thus every little kid who ever wanted a puppy but couldn't have one, made their parents buy it for them. The dog models in the game have very similar shape and texture to the models used in The Sims' expansion pack "Unleashed", which is a PC game from the freaking '90s. Come on, Nintendo, I thought you could do better than that.. Turns out Nintendo can't. The PSP is an amazing system that completely blows me away and anyone who says Nintendo DS is better but doesn't even know the actual name of the PSP, can't judge. Furthermore, the Dual-screen function is just plain frustrating. I've played DS several times and it just annoys me. The games are NOT fun at all, and staying true to Nintendo, are made for children. If you want GOOD games like Sony has always offered us, stick to the PSP. You're not gonna get anything as good as a Sony game on the DS, not to mention half of the games have almost the same graphics as the Gameboy Advance. This is like XBox 360, barely an improvement at all. A note on the PSP's colours. I'm not sure when they're releasing it in Canada, but my friend and I both own white PSPs that are only available in Japan as of yet, and even though they aren't available in the US, there are still TONNES of customizable plates for the PSP, which you can't get for the DS. If you don't believe about the white PSP, http://tk.files.storage.msn.com/x1pnp_r ... G_vPjWCq5U That is my friend Annie's PSP and my friend Jay's PSP. (Annie's is white)

I'm sorry to hear that you find using more than one screen at once frustratingly difficult, but oh well. Okay, so the graphics aren't as good, but I don't really care, the gameplay is the important part for me. "The only reason why it got so popular is because of the Utada Hikaru-sponsored "Nintendogs". Utada Hikaru makes THE most money in Japan, and she is an extremely successful pop star, selling over 33 million albums (that's waaay more than Britney Spears) world-wide. Come on, Nintendo, I thought you could do better than that.. Turns out Nintendo can't." Well, firstly, not that many people have heard of her over here, so why is it still selling over here? because it's good, perhaps. And, about the dog models... nothing like The Sims. Have you actually looked at them properly, you can't actually be serious. I'm sure they would be a lot better on the PSP, but The Sims, no. And before you say anything about a 'Nintendo Fanboy', I voted for the PSP because I believe it to be superior, but I hate it to see people talking absolute crap when they are arguing like this.
