Perl interpreter

I'm running on Windows XP pro, and I was wondering where can I download a reliable perl interpreter. Can anyone reccomend one please? I've already got one but itdoesn' seem to work. It's called ActivePerl I think, but everytime I use it in a reference so my scripts actually work in a .html document, or if i link to it, then follow the link, it just comes out as the perl which i've wrote. Thanks if anyone can help
