Zalman is known for their extremely efficient CPU coolers. The CNPS7700-Cu is proof of that. Here are the specs:

1. Does not generate noise or vibration in Silent Mode.
2. Pure Copper base material ensures excellent heat dissipation.
3. Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 775), Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478), and AMD64 (Socket 754/939/940) compatible design for broad compatibility.
4. The large 120mm fan inside the FHS maximizes cooling performance by providing sufficient airflow even at slow rotation speeds.

But let us not just look at the specs, but also how it compares to other products too. You will be surprised at how powerful the impressive 19°C/W thermal resistance is.

Here are some comparable water cooling systems:
Thermaltake's Aquarius 2: 0.24°C/W
Cooler Master's Aquagate: 0.31 / 0.25 / 0.23°C/W

Here are some comparable air cooling systems:
Thermaltake's ITBU Series- CL-P0169: 0.27°C/W
Cooler Master's Hyper 48: 0.36°C/W
Cooler Master's Hyper 6: 0.28 ~ 0.33°C/W

As you can see, Zalman has taken over the air cooling market and half of the water cooling market with an air cooler that operates up to only 32dB. That is amazing. For this extreme air cooling performance, I give Zalman the ComputerBB's 10/10 Frozen Award.

It is good to see another Thermalright fan. ccb056 and myself both use Thermalright heatsinks. They have the best quality build for heatsinks.

However, they do lack some key designs. I love the XP-120 with its 5 heatpipes and 120mm fan along that it is from Thermalright. However, it is not copper. That is a real big one. If Thermalright makes a copper XP-120 like they did for my 80mm heatsink from them, then I might have to reconsider the top HSF solution. But this is not the only problem I find with the XP-120. Another one is fan efficiency. As you can see from the Zalman design, the fan not only blows down, but also to the sides of the heatsink giving it maximum efficiency: maximum cooling ability with minimum vibrations (minimum noise). Of course this takes away your ability to customize the heatsink with any fan you want, but the fan Zalman has is good enough. It has dual ball bearings so you know it will last long. I don't know the CFM on the fan since Zalman doesn't tell us, but I'm sure it is good enough considering the results it delivers. Also, the control unit Zalman provides is also good. It may not be as customizable as other fan control units, but it gets by with as low as 20dB. The Thermalright XP-120 can have any fan you desire and any fan control unit you desire, but the fan only blows one direction, down. The Zalman sucks from the top and blows down and to the sides.

What we really need is someone to read the thermal resistance on the XP-120 with a variety of fans. (If only Vantec could make a 120mm Tornado and a fan controller to control the wild beast. :roll: )
