What Anti-virus?

Post by TheSarge »

Hello gentlemen,

I would like to know according to everyone's experience what is the current most efficient AV software?
I personnally tried Avast!, BitDefender, Kaspersky, PC-Cillin and ZoneLabs Security suite.
Currently I am using ZoneLabs security suite along with Avast!. I got rid of Bit Defender because it was using too much ressources.

Thx. 8)

I use Norton on all of my computers, haven't had a virus get past it in 5+ years by keeping it updated and using common sense.

This was my reply a while back.. it's still holds true to this day :)

Awhile back (approx 2 yrs.) both of my computers became infected with a Worm virus. From my understanding a worm virus moves/installs itself into other folders/programs all by itself.

Well.. 33,000 files were found by Norton anti-virus, but that is all it would do is recognize that they were there. It would not quarantine or delete any of them. Norton anti-virus left me standing in the cold!

Ever since that date I have used Panda Anti-virus and haven't run into any further quarantine/delete problems. A few times it has popped up a warning telling me the file I downloaded was infected with a virus and immediately deleted or removed it from my computer.

Panda has my vote when it comes to detecting AND removing viruses.. Norton, well.. they can pucker up and kick my bottom! 8)

I use the best damn software out there. DeepFreeze. Taken from my panick stricken question located elsewhere on this forum:

"...............this program is what they use at my school to prevent the crap the students download from clogging up and slowing down their computers. It's called "DeepFreeze".

What it does is it literally freezes your computer. When you install the program's workstation program, it freezes your computer's hard drive. You can install all the crap and anything you want on the computer. You can get the worst viruses and trojans and delete the entire HDD. Then simply restart your computer, and everything comes back, exactly down the exact bit as it was when you froze your computer. Then if you want to make a change on your computer, you simply "thaw" your computer, make the change, then you can "refreeze" your computer with the changes you made, and they will stay......................."

That kicks the ass of any Anti-virus program. I have literally TRIED TO infect my computer, with viri, and all kinds of other junk, but have been unable to. This software kicks @$$!

By the way, it works best when installed on a new computer, so as to be completely sure that there is no spywayre crap on your computer. Simply clear out another computer's offline files and cookies, then use it to go online to your favorite sites and save your cookies and history and bookmarks, etc., then copy over only the cookies and stuff you need to the new computer, preferably using removeable storage. Never get another virus again!!! If you do, just reboot and it's gone!!! :D :D :D
