Microsoft Mouse

I have a question about my Microsoft optical intellimouse. It has a USB plug built onto the mouse cord, but it also came with the adapter that allows it to be plugged into a PS/2 port on the motherboard.

Does it, or will it make any difference which port/socket I plug it into? Will USB make it run any differently than the PS/2 port?

It will run the same under both ports, the difference is noticed in dos where there is no support for usb mice.
