Ram Help

Post by The_Man »

I got a new stick of Ram 512Mb PC 3200 to go with two older sticks 256Mb PC3200, well after i installed my ram, my ram speed went from 400mhz to 333Mhz? CPU'z says both ram chips are built for 200Mhz, but is only running at 159Mhz, it was my bios that said 333Mhz? and CPU'z said it was dual channeled before, now i'm only single channeled?

Could this be because i only installed on stick, and not a duplicate stick in the others slot?

Oh and i have a Dell PC, just to let yall know.

I don't know if you can run 3 sticks of ram as dual channel.

Thta is one thing that has always puzzled me about Asus motherboards. My A7N8X-E has 3 banks.. IF I run 3 sticks, is it dual channel?..if not, what is the 3rd bank for?

If a motherboard has 4 dimm slots and you use all 4 sticks, it is dual channel? I'm startin' to feel gimpy with my 3 slots

Could it not being dual channel be the reason the speed of the ram went down?

All depends on the Motherboard, many only allow RAM in pairs. This could be your prob.
