I need to buy a wireless access point. I can either buy a wireless G/B supported Netgear router, or I can get a wireless B only Linksys hub.
Now, I know that a hub can be set as an access point. I need to know if a router can also be set as an access point, and if it's easy to do.
I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Please tell me if a wireless router is an access point, or what the main differences are.
Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is make it so my computer so that when all my friends come over, they can use their wireless PCMCIA cards in their laptops to see my computer and just connect to my computer in a WLAN.
I just need to know if this is possible with a router, or only with a hub.
