Intel Smithfield, Another Small Nuclear Power Plant

Post by Aggressor Prime »

It looks like Intel just had to mess up again.
Their new Smithfield CPU features dual cores and 65nm technology.
It also features a nice 130W power consumption.
That means it will be a nice heater in the winter.
Well, you have to give them some credit.
Each core only uses 65W which is much less than the 116.7W from the Prescotts.
But still, this is their most power consuming CPU ever, even more than their top Itanium 2 at 122W.
AMD's dual core CPUs will use the same power as the K8s, 89W-104W. And they use the old 90nm technology.
More at Tom's.
