internet problems

I'm not sure which catagory this belongs in but i need help with a pesty problem. I can sign on to internet explorer with no problem but if i click on the address bar dropdown arrow the computer says "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". this just started today. and like i said...as long as i just type in an address i'm ok, but this is a work computer and most of the web pages i go to are in the dropdown address bar and it is a hassle to have to type them in each time. thanks for any help
