Okay, I need to make my USB wireless adapter (which is connected to my desktop computer) into an access point. It's a cheap but efficient wireless adapter. It's a Belkin F5D6050, if anyone wants to know. I need to make it so that that wireless adapter becomes the access point, so that my laptop with its wireless card can "see" it, and connect to the internet through it.
I don't want to use any cables, because the laptop will be in the other room. When I first installed Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) onto both the desktop and the laptop, during the network setup, I told both computers to be a part of the "SOBIN" network.
However, when I scan for access points on my laptop, the "SOBIN" network does not show up. I tried running the "Setup a wireless network" and the "Setup a home or office network", but neither one makes it so that my laptop can find my desktop through the wireless adapter.
Can someone help, as I'm starting to go out of my mind here!!!
