Problem with running games

Post by robb »

Ok situation is a few weeks back i was using a radlinker and messed with some settings to try and get the best graphics i could. Anyway it started to top a fps at 20 or maybe 30 which is just unplayable, and now i went to buy a new geforce 4 5700LT hoping this would solve the problem, and with installing the new drivers etc it is still a massive problem. Which has led me to believe that now its something else within the computer and i have no idea what. Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be appreciated, plus as i only have the upgrade version of xp reformat doesnt seem to be an option.

Your CPU might be slowing you down. I would suggest a Barton core CPU. My upgrade from a 1800 to a 3200 showed great performance improvement with my GeForce 6600GT in Doom 3.

The thing is its only just happened recently when games would run fine really not mind blowing performance but cod was very comfortable with it running 80-125 easily now its struggling for 60. What settings could have caused such a change?
