Trying to upgrade; more problems

Post by bobisoft2k5 »

Story: I have a spare mobo/proc/RAM and was going to donate them to my buddy so he could get a bit of an upgrade. My mobo doesn't have integrated video (like his) so we got a cheap PCI video card. Unfortunately, the power switch cable/power LED cable/etc. is all connected at one end and it doesn't match my mobo. So, we switched back to his old mobo and just slapped my old RAM into his; might as well improve as much as we can, eh? Now, however, when we turn his computer on, nothing happens on the monitor. When not connected, the monitor will self-test, so that's ok. We tried using both his integrated video and the PCI card and nothing happens. The other PCI cards light up (they must be getting power, right?) and there is no beep code when it powers on. Thanks for any help!

You say you put your old ram in his motherboard; I would replace the original ram and see if you can boot it up properly. Your ram may not be compatible.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

Nar, original RAM does not help. Thanks for the attempt, though!
