Socket M2 May Not Be DDR2 (AMD considers DDR3 or XDR.)

Well, the chances of AMD using a DDR2 memory controller on their Socket M2s has gone down. They may skip DDR2 for DDR3 or XDR. Considering that AMD is all about maximum speed/clock, XDR would be the best choice. DDR2 has a higher latency than DDR, and DDR3 has a higher latency than DDR2. XDR, however, has a super low latency. The only problem then rests on the extreme price of XDR. Even Intel couldn't sell Rambus. This will be fixed by two things: 1. Sony's PS3, which will use XDR, will drive down XDR's costs. 2. Since extreme gamers buy AMD CPUs, they will not care putting in an extra $100 or $200. As for the rest of AMD's customers, they can stick with Socket 939 until XDR's price cools down. More here.
