uninstall mcafee

Post by tonyg »

I'm working on a Dell Pc that is about 3 years old. It came with Mcafee A/V but in there is no entry in Win98/"Remove programs" to uninstall the application. I checked in the program files folder and there is no uninstall module there and none in the start menu for that application. I can run the application, but there is only an upgrade button, not an un-instal or remove option. I want to use Norton A/V. How to I safely remove Mcafee? Thanks for any suggestions, Tony

You should be able to find an Add/Remove programs icon in your Control Panel. Did you try and look for it there? If not you're going to have to go into the Program Files folder and look for it's folder and delete that manually, then go to your start menu folder which should be in the C:\Windows directory and find the start menu for McAfee and delete that. the rest should be taken care of when you empty temporary files and/or when you defrag assuming that you're not using the Win98 version of disk defragmenter.
