Sony DVD burner wacky after USB2 ports

Post by greenthumb »

Ever since I switched one of my usb 2.0 connections on my motherboard from a usb header block (fits in the pci slot) to the front usb ports on my antec case, my system has been crashing more and even more annoying, my dvd burner has become unreliable. It started ruining disks regularly and often won't read disks as well. Okay, the usb switch wasn't the only change I made that day, I also put my computer on its side. After unsuccessfully attempting to burn a disk with the computer (and hence the dvd drive) on its side, I put my tower back to upright position but the drive continued to be unreliable thereafter. My question is, which of these two changes is more likely to be the cause of my problems and what are the probable solutions for each cause? Is it possible that the usb connections on the antec case are incompatible with my computer hardware somehow? And/or is it possible that putting the drive on the side damaged or misaligned the laser or some other component inside my computer? Thanks for any help you all might provide! - Greenthumb

neither one should mess with your burning, unless your burner plugs into your usb port try unplugging the usb header also, did you change blank media, or are you using the same stuff youve always used
