UP ARROW KEY WON'T WORK

Post by garnerstamps »

Anyone know what's causing this? the other arrow keys work fine. It's not a major problem, I can always use the scroll bar, but it does get annoying after awhile! thanx

UP ARROW KEY WON'T WORK

Post by garnerstamps »

I wish it was so simple--I should've mentioned this is for a laptop computer, so I'm sure it's not as easy to switch out the keyboard as it would be for a desktop! Anyone have any ideas? Is there some kind of virus or bug that can affect the arrow keys? I've heard of this problem before with one of the arrow keys but of course I had never had that problem before and have no clue where I came across the info. If anyone has any idea or can point me in the right direction, that would be wonderful! thanx

Can you try a keyboard on the lap top? Most can accept an external keyboard. That will allow you try the arrow key on another keypad. You can also buy a can of air at most computer stores and try blowing out the key pad, you may have something that got in it. If all fails you may have to have the keypad replaced, some models can be replaced without much trouble, but that depends on you if you think you can tackel it.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

You probably dropped the thing and knocked the piece of rubber underneath the key loose. Take it to bestbuy or another computer retailer, they'll send you in the right direction.
