computer crashing

My computer keeps locking up and has to be manually shut off with the power switch or the reset button. The last time I had to do this, a solid high pitched beep is all I get. Nothing on the monitor, resetting and power button does nothing. I have checked the cords and power supply . Help!Thanks.

computers get very angry when you turn them on with no ram-and pitch loudly-.Installed new ram lately? If so, make sure its seated in properly.

This sounds like what happens when people leave their computers on for days at a time. Replace the ram, clean out the dust with q-tips and you should be fine.
