Hello.. Sorry, I am new to this forum. Don't know if you guys can help me here. I decided to format my hard drive so that it is free from badly corrupted files/ folders. After the refresh and when it arrived at the new desktop, I immediately installed drivers in this order plus other applications as well: 1) VIA and motherboard drivers inc. USB filter driver (Can someone please point out what this filer driver is for? Thx) 2) GeForce4 Ti4600 driver using smartstall from nVidia even though it is MSI. 3) DirectX 8.1 and then set screen to 1024x768 in 32-bit color. 4) Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 5) Internal PCI hardware 56k modem 6) NIC 7) Add additional programs from Add/ Remove Programs 8) Goto Internet Explorer and did all updates from Microsoft. 9) Installed Office 2000 Professional and before finishing installed it had the error message as below. When it was alomost finishing installed the office 2000, suddenly it gave me an error message: Win32 - There is not enough memory available to run the program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again. As far as I know, there was no program running at all. I checked my system memory and it was still 768mb ddr and system resources was at around 90% Hard Drive was still on 6GB left. I decided to reboot and arrived at the desktop in about 20 seconds. Then the same message came up. I went to run command and execute msconfig. I noticed there should not be any program running that would cause this error message. I experimented unticked one ot two programs in turn in msconfig and restarted several times until I finally find the culprit, I think! The screen color depth was on 32-bit. I decided to set it down to 16-bit at 1024x 768 and the problem was sorted. I just do not understand, this is an Geforce4 Ti4600 that we are talking about. My Geforce3 Ti200 could even handle 32 bit color. So what is the cause of this? Thank you.
