Computer Crashes Constantly

Post by triplea »

Specifications: http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/600Gx ... 0sp3.shtml I use a Gateway 614GE and I've been getting computer crashes ever since I got it. I bought it from Circuit City and had McAfee and Spy Sweeper installed before I took it home. I've gotten many computer errors including two system restart warnings. In case it has anything to do with it, here are the programs I've installed in no particular order: AOL Instant Messenger 5.1 AIMutation Mozilla Firefox Winamp 2.9 Foobar 2000 Lite DivX Irfanview CDex Microsoft GIF Animator Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Adobe Photoshop CS BearShare Lite Limewire 4.8.1 WinRar BitTorrent Smart FTP The Sims 2 The Sims 2: University It usually happens an hour into use. I've tried using every registry scan I have and it still crashes. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing it to crash?

I am getting similar problems as well. After changing my PSU and AGP card, the problems persisted, so I got fed up and decided to fresh install Win98se. After that, all problems sorted and is running even faster than before. I am using Register Mechanic 4, Trend micro anti-virus to trace problems and my pc is now free from error. My advice is.. Try older AGP card and refresh your OS.

Remove foobar, cdex, limewire and bittorend, rune full virus scan, full spyware scan (adaware se personal http://www.lavasoft.com) and find equivalents to these programs because they sound like a threat to your computer and limewire is known to have spyware issues.

I have the same computer and the same problem. One of the problems is, I play alot of hard core games like Ballefield2 and I get a internet connection problem( my comuter kept dropping my cable modem) then it crashes. Gateway pull this pc off the shevles. I thought it was a ram issue,so I made c city give me a new stick and that did'nt fix it. I am totaly bugged out...Have you made any head way this this issue?
