Windows XP Won't Load

Hi, Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes. My computer was working fine one day and then the next when I turned it on and it reached the Windows XP loading page the bar just kept going back and forth for a few minutes until my computer just restarted itself. Does anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks Gordon

do a repair install of windows xp or try booting into safe mode by pressing f8 on bootup
