4.7Gig recording problem

Post by jopeli »

My Sony DVD-R drive will not record on a 4.7 Gig disk. I keep getting the message:"Please insert a disk!".Is there anything I can do? It's a Sony CD-RW CRX 1611. It records fine on 700mb blank discs.

Just saw this tip yesterday maybe this will help..... XP Doesn't Recognize DVD-RW Discs If Windows doesn't recognize the disc when you insert a DVD-RW into your DVD drive, it may be because of a problem with the Universal Disc Format driver trying to use the wrong packet length to read the disc. When this happens, XP will not display any files on the disc. You can fix the problem by installing Service Pack 2, but if you don't want to do that, there is a specific hotfix for this problem. To find out how to get it, see KB article 818733. http://www.winxpnews.com/rd/rd.cfm?id=0 ... -KB_818733
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
