relplaced hard drive

I replaced the HD in my HP Pavillion n5170. Of course, when I booted up with the restore disk I recd the error "ERROR ENCOUNTERED WHILE CREATING SAVE TO DISK PARTITION" Is there any way around this? thanks Its windows ME
