IE AND Firefox very slow

Post by Yana »

Hey, i'm really hoping someone can help me out here. Recently, my computer has been really slow with loading things from the internet. Eventually, it does load the page, but it takes ages. My AOL Instant Messenger works fine, but my MSN messenger takes ages to load the list. In IE, it first says "Finding Site" for ages, then it takes long for "Opening page..." as well. I've tried working with Firefox, but there it first says "Looking up" for ages, then it loads. Funny thing is, once it has loaded the main site, all the subcontents load at normal (quick) speed. For example, loading computerbb.org took a while, but clicking around in the forum was done at normal/quick speed. I've done a spyware check (with Spybot & Ad-aware) and done a virus scan with my antivirus. Any existing spyware/viruses have been deleted, but the problem still remains. Please help! Any idea what the problem might be?

try cleaning out all internet files, cookies, and anything in the temp file, this may help. What ISP do you use, dial up,cable, or DSL. You can run speed checks to see how you are running too.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

I've tried it, it doesn't work. The speed is fine, cause i'm running on 2 OSes and on the other one (the one that i don't use often) the internet is perfectly fine :( Oh well
