Windows XP not starting after new motherboard and CPU

Post by Karn »

I just installed a new Motherboard and CPU on my main machine and now windows seems to reboot itself when I try to run it, I keep getting the usual.. Safe mode Safe mode with networking Safe mode with command console Last known working settings Normally Either way I run it, it goes to a black screen. Or the safe mode list of files. Then stops... seems like its about to load windows and then all of a sudden the lights on the keyboard light up and then its back to a reboot. Any ideas on how to fix this?

IF you had XP on the hard drive with the old CPU and motherboard it may not like the settings. If this is the case you may have to re install XP on the hard drive. Before you do that, if you have a bootable DOS disk, see if the computer will boot with it to a "C" prompt, and see if you can look at the directories of both "A" and "C", if this works try a re install.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
