Trouble starting computer

Post by masterhenry »

I just put together a new computer and had it running for, umm, id say about 20mins with no problems lol. I installed windows and it restarted and all was fine. Turned it off that night and then started it back up in the morning. All the fans came on, no beeps, but the monitor light is yellow, and my optical drive light keeps comming on every few seconds and then turns off again, over and over. Please help lol, it was so fast while it was working, i have to get it up again soon. My specs: AMD 64 4800+ dual core A8N SLI Deluxe mobo 4 gig memory 2x geforce 7800 gtx Maxtor 200g IDE HD 7200rpm 8mb cache 2x WD 74g 10,000rpm SATA HD

Try disconnecting the CD drive and cable, remove all but one stick of ram, disconnect the two SATA drives, the "A" drive just leave the boot drive. Now try to boot up and see if you can, if you can then reconnect on thing at a time and reboot. Keep going till you find out what is causeing the problem. You should be able to boot bare bones, if not try and switch the one stick of ram with another.

Do you have two graphics cards in this one? If so did you try with just one card/ and or the other card?

One other thing you can try, I know it's a little work, if you still have the old motherboard hook it up with the bare bones stuff, drive,CD rom, see if it will boot. This will rule out any of the other components that may of gone bad. If they work then you can assume a problem on the motherboard/CPU
