Beeping Monitor
Hi, I was hoping someone could give me some direction or help. I am having a problem with my compter that might sound a little strange. No one that I know in computers can help me.
The thing is that my monitor beeps intermittently. there are no problems with the monitor, nor are there problems with my computer. the beeping is quite annoying, there is no pattern to it. I noticed it a while ago and noticed that when I turned the monitor off the beeping stopped.
If anyone can give me any sort of help, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Stacey

I will admit it is old but it is an IBM monitor, with E74 on the front. I got it when I got my last computer (which is now total garbage) an IBM NetVista. i am now using a clone with Windows XP.
The beeping is not uniform and I can never tell when it is going to happen, it has not beeped in a few days and tonight it has been beeping again. i shut the monitor off and the beeping stops.

Check the plug and make sure all the pins are there and straight, other than that I have never heard of that problem, so it might be a good idea to call IBM.

You're moniter has a speaker option, and the beeping you hear may be related to the CPU overheating. I would check to make sure the case fan, and CPU fan are working. Buy a can of compressed air and blow off the inside motherboard area, making sure the inside isn't loaded with dust.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
