Awkward problem...

Post by skim. »

Ok my friend is having crazy computer problems... He was on AIM one day and he got booted and now he cant use AIM, access http://www.google.com or his gmail account. But, he can goto http://www.yahoo.com He can only access some websites and this is one that wont load. I tried checking his cookies, a full system restore, and went to http://www.symantec.com and scanned security and virus scans, which came up blank. I can't think of anything else to do, we unistalled firefox (and IE) and aim, and then reinstalled. I am out of ideas and was wondering if anyone could help.

I would suggest scanning with both Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-aware. Sorry I couldn't provide links; I'm on my PSP. EDIT: <a href="http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html">Spybot Search & Destory</a> | <a href="http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/">Ad-aware</a>

I just thought of something logical: his ISP's DNS server might be experiencing difficulties. Try finding one on the net (I know if you google charter dns server it gives you primary & secondary addresses). I hope that helps.
