HELP! Broke computer!

Post by jmack549 »

Okay, so my coworker asked me to fix his laptop. I took it home, and found nothing wrong with it, just needed to be cleaned up. I told him and he asked me to just restore it, because he didn't need anything anymore. I asked him if he had the packet it came with and he said no, and I said okay thats fine. I restored it with a XP disk I have, which I got with a Gateway. I start it up and i can only view in 400x600, and something like 8bit color. I check into it and the video card among other things drivers are not installed. I tried reinstalling them, but I find that the computer can not access the internet because the ethernet port or the phone line port drivers are not installed. Is there ANYTHING I can do?

I knew this part of it, it's just knowing the part's names that confuses me. How am I supposed to find these out?

When you go to your manufactor's website, type in the laptop name or serial number w/e and click driver downloads
