How much will extra RAM help?

How much will extra RAM help?

I was wondering, I have a GB of ram , How much more perforance would i gain, and where by adding an extra 512MB or 1GB, which i can. i still have 2 slots open. I was just wondering how much quicker say.. Photoshop would be? or any other intesive progs. or Gaming, or anything you could think off.

With my own experience... I dont think you will gain anything from getting more ram...

Ive had 1gb & 2gb in my computer.... And it didnt make a slight bit of diference. If you like running alot of programs at the same time.. Then perhaps it will, but otherwise It wouldnt make much diference at all. :)

you will only increase performance if you need that much ram

If you do extreme multi-tasking, or play very demanding games, you might see a difference. If you don't do the previously mentioned, you probably won't tell a diffference at all.

I recently installed another gig of PC3200, taking me to 2g. I can't tell the difference for the most part. The reward definetely wasn't worth what I spent for the ram modules :roll:
