Memory issue...Maybe

Post by Liquidman »

Almost half my memory is unavailable according to MSinfo. Is this just because I am running some programs right now or is there something wrong here?

It tells me 573.33MB are available out of my 1024MB

Thanks for your help :)

Operationg System?

Possible defective/faulty Dimm slot, bad stick of ram?

Clean the copper contacts on the memory with a pencil eraser or electrial contact cleaner. Try switching the sticks into different DIMM slots.

The pencil eraser isn't as safe as the designated cleaner.. but it does do the trick rather nicely

You should be able to get it at any Radio Shack.. Home Depot, Lowe's.. any decent hardware store.

Most computer store (that sell replacement parts.. comp-usa, Micro-Center..) should sell an electric contact cleaning pencil. For the smaller parts that you need to clean, it would be recommended over the spray.
