Internet is SLOW!

Post by Tebow2000 »

Okay, I have done everything to my powers to see what I causing this problem.. I have bought a new cable modem and router, linksys ofcourse. All the other computers can access the internet at blazing speeds but my computer is lagging along. I only have 22 processes running in the background (the normal ones for XP). I have scanned for viruses and ect. with mcafee, spybot, and adaware. I have tested all the cables and checked the ports inwhich my computer is using.. I have ran windows repair through my Windows XP Pro disk and that hasnt helped... Should I install SP2? <-- I didnt think I would have the use for it.

I have widdled it down to only one possibility, the ethernet port itself? I still have internet and I can see my network just fine but I am very laggy and it takes forever to view pages.. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Will

Chek the process's on the other computers that are running quick if you have an older computer with less memory than them they will be draining the internet from you
Hope this helps you along :)

Is you're NIC onboard or a card? If you have access ot a newer 10/100 or 10/100/1000 card pop it in and see if it helps. By the way I would put in SP2 to many holes without it.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
