I recently purchased a new case, motherboard, CPU, memory. I put it together and I get no beep codes or boot up. What could be the problem? Could the motherboard be shorted out on the case. When installing the motherboard, should I put the red paper circles under the motherboard before I screw it down? The case came with plastic studs to screw into, but only four. I can't use the metal studs that screw into the case because they put the motherboard to high to fit the I/O panel on the case. Some of the screws are screwed directly to the metal case in the holes made for the metal studs. Is that a problem? Please advise of what to try.
try running the system from outside of the case, if it wont't work without the case either you have something plugged in wrong or a component is broken
make sure you have the power switch header correctly plugged into the motherboard
Usualy there will be two main power inputs on the more advanced motherboards. Check that each are properly in. Take them out and reinsert them until you hear the click of the lock on the cable
i had this with a really old board i was working on for someone. Try it with nothing but your motherboard and case. Remove the cpu ram and everything if it still dont work u must have fried it due to static
Thanks for all your advise. I tried the memory in a computer that had the same memory and the new memory didnt work. I sent it back and have another 256MB ddr PC2100 stick coming. I checked all the jumpers, cables, front panel connections and they were all right. The stick of memory they sent me was single sided. I thought DDR memory was double sided. All my other DDR memory was anyway. Thanks for your help. I will let u know of the new memory works.
Well I'm ready to pull my hair out!!! I have tried new memory, the motherboard alone with no cpu, memory or anything else attached and still nothing. Outside of the case I still don't get any beep codes. I have tried everything I know but have gotten nowhere. With no cpu, memory, etc. I should get beep codes telling video, memory or cpu errors correct? I think my board is bad. I have no way to check the processor since I don't have another AMD motherboard. Does this sound correct to you? Please advise on what to do now. Thanks so much for all the help everyone has given me so far. I really appreciate your input.

I have same issue. I can't get a new barebones PC to boot. No boot, beep or video. How would I know if I fried something due to static? We worked on a bare floor, no carpet and had wrist static guards.
I have tried to clear CMOS, took system down to the bare necessities. When you say try the board outside the box ... how do you do that? When you plug it in what should happen if nothing is attached?
I feel like a dope. I talked my buddy out of buying a system from a shop and talked him into going the barebones route from a site I've had good luck with. I hope nothing has to go back or worse .. nothing is damaged!
