CD/DVD Drive can write, but not read.

I am having the oddest problem with my DVD-RW burner. It can write just fine to both DVD media and CD media. However, it can't read my CD or DVD, it sees it as blank media, but then (obviously, since it's not empty), can't write to it. The odd thing is that I don't think it's the actual drive itself, but some kind of mess internally, as I have an external CD burner that wasn't great at burning CD's, but could always read them with no problem. However, now it can't read CD's, either, and sees finished CD's as blank media. I've been having some troubles with my CD burning program (Nero 6), and am going to reinstall the program, but does anyone know what could cause this? Thanks! Ethan
