DVD-R and DVD-ROM problems

Ok heres the position i'm currently in I recently tried to play UT2K4 PC DVD-ROM version (this did work previously) and when i tried to play it- the D drive hummed for 2 minutes and then stopped and refused to recognise that anything was there It does however play CD's CD-ROM and CD-R It also plays normal DVD's This is what i have tried I have reinstalled the drivers for the Drive I have had the drive replaced twice the last time was around 3 months ago. I have tried cleaning the drive and thats about it any suggestions on what i should try next?

Hi there, I have the same problem, some dvd discs wont read as being in the drive.. for example... the day after tommorrow....ni disc in drive. heres an even better one!! West wing, disc 1-3 are fine, disc 4 = no disc in drive... it is really pissing me off..have you had any resolution from your end in this regard. I would appreviate any help you can give me..
