Windows XP won't load after game freez up...........

Post by crios »

Was playing an mmorpg when my PC froze up. Completely unresponsive so I had to power it down using the power button. Next morning I get up and try to turn on my PC and XP won't load. It tells me there was some kind of error, I don't get any error codes or anything. I get the black screen that gives me the option of loading in a couple variations of safe mode, and reverting back to a previous configuration that worked. None of these work for me. I've also tried reformating my C drive but it says that drive can't be reformatted. Also my factory recovery CD does nothing for me. (This is an HP). And since the PC is more than a year old of course HP won't help me with crap. I tried to "repair" my windows thing using the recovery freature but it says it can't find the Microsoft or windows EULA. Anybody know what the problem could be? What are my options for fixing it?

download and run memtest86, that will tell you if your memory is bad open up the case, determine who made the hard drive, it will probably be either a maxtor or western digital, goto the website, download the diagnostic utility, and run a full diagnostic on the hard drive

Already tried that and it won't do it. I don't have an actual windows CDrom but I do have the factory restore CD and it won't work.
