restoring? entire computer

Post by ilovecows »

my computer is a windows 98 second edition and it takes a half hour to start up and sucks big time, blah blah blah.. anyway, my friend recently told me that her brother put xp onto all of their home computers with a restoration disc (i think it was) that was xp and i wanted to know if that is safe to do because i do have xp restoration discs from another computer and want xp on my computer. would this work? or is my computer to old to handle it? i hope that made sense..

From the info ya gave in your post there is no way to tell if your computer is too old. Is your computer a true dinosaur, or does it just sratup alot slower than you think it should? WinXp does have a program that will run from the disk that verifies the system you're installing it to is able to support it. But you said you had an Xp retore disk, I dunno how far that's gonna get ya. I'm no computer scientist, not by anymeans.. but I don't think it can restore something that was never there to start with. I could very well be wrong, sorry if I am proved to be so
