i'm planning on upgrading py processor but I will need a new motherboard first cos my current one is a bit naff and isn't compatible with any new processors. My OS is win XP and I know that it won't like it when i replace the motherboard and that I might have to reinstall windows. The problem with that is that I don't have the XP disk, my PC came with xp loaded on already and no reinstall disk.... is there anyway to get around this without buying XP again or not???
If you are the real owner of the computer and it came with a computer you bought you can upgrade then you will have to call Microsoft when it prompts you. If you don't have the rights to the software you may have to bite it and buy a disk.
if you have an HP, Dell, Compaq or any other brand of computer...forget it. You must replace parts supplied by the manufacturer. If not, richh0323 is right. Upgrade at will.
