Coding Help Please (Menu)

If you're familiar with a bit of CSS, Javascript and HTML, please help.
Here's the page I'm working on:

and I want to make the menu display as a single line (as it looks below)

but for some strange reason it wants to display on several lines initially and screws the entire design up
