Linksys WAP54G as client

I am trying to use my wap54g as a client , to access the internet from a dlink di524 wireless router . I am not sure how to config the 54g . I read that i need to set ap mode to access client and do survey . The 54g sees the router, I then clik dlink from the survey and I save settings, but can not get on internet . what other settings do I need to change ?
