Partitioning deleted all the data:(

Post by HDDproblem »

Hello I am new on this forum. I just bought an external 200GB harddrive. I had some 30 GB data on it and then I decided to partition it, someone told me Partition magic would do it w/o deleting anything. Maybe I made some mistake but now after partitioning it I can see that all my data is gone. I have two partitions created but none has the data:( Can someone help me please figure out what has happened.. Is it impossible to recover the data??? Thanks a lot in advance

there are special file recovery programs on the net you can use, because partitionmagic doesnt actually format the drive, it just puts a tag on it saying to rewrite over the area. theres a good chance if you can find a good recovery program, that your data is still there. try htto://www.ubcd4win.com

You can try Stellar Phoenix software for free and find out if you're data is still recoverable, but if you want to recover it you will have to buy it. http://www.stellarinfo.com/
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
