push the button, lights, then nothing

Post by aggiechick »

I just bought a new Dell laptop. I used it about ten times then had it off for two months. When I began using it again, I noticed that when I attempted to turn it on, sometimes it would not. I pressed the power switch, the lights for the power and hard disk would light up for a few seconds then turn off. This will happen any number of times from none to six/seven times before the laptop will finally turn on and boot up. Any ideas on what it could be and what I should try?

So I'm not a computer genius, but I do not think its the battery. I have used the computer both when it is plugged into the wall and stand alone on a battery. The problem occurs in both instances.
