Computer Death, help!

Post by Fox425 »

Ok so there i am happily reorganising my desktop after a recent reformat, when suddenly, WHAM the pc turns itself right off. No joy when i go to press the power button to turn it back on. Nothing happens, no lights, no buzzing, no sounds, no twitching of fans, nothing. I felt the inside and the cpu and they felt hot enough to fry an egg on, ive let it cool down but it's still not working. Ive checked and rechecked all of the connections, cables, cords. Nothing seems to make it want to run again. This is a new computer, bought it 2 months ago. System Spec: Pentium 4 3.2ghz 1024MB Ram GeForce FX5600 Graphics Card 200GB Hard drive As Rock Mobo Has something burnt up? I recently checked the cpu temp, it was around 65-70 degrees C. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance

I would guess the power supply is shorted and something is shorted on the motherboard, maybe the CPU. If you can I would take it back and get it repaired under warrantee.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.

If it just happened without cause, check all the wires to the power supply, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT APART!! you will get fried. Also, if all the wires appear to be fine and you never smelt anything burning, chances are you fried your processor.
