My LiteOn 411S won't read blank media

I have a a LiteOn 411S that was working beautifully for a few months but lately it won't read blank dvd-r's. It reads movies perfectly fine and it reads burned discs perfectly fine, but it won't read the blank discs. I have the newest firmware installed but apparently that didn't work...any ideas?
