Help me(noob) please- increasing video card Mb

Post by 100 »

I was told that if I go to BIOS settings (when the computer first starts up) I can increase the number of Mb on my video card in exchange for RAM. So, I went to BIOS settings, and saw that the video hardware had 8MB, but I want to increase it (I heard you could increase it up to 32Mb). How do I do this, assuming it's possible, and is it a wise thing to do? Also, is it worth getting a better video/graphics card for the laptop, and if so, what brands are the best? The computer is a gateway M350 w/ a pentium 4 processor and when I plug the laptop in, I'm able to get 3 GHz out of it. It has 504 Mb of RAM, and is about 1 year old. It works fine, and I don't want to screw it up. I hope i worded my questions OK, I don't know much about computers. Thanks in advance. Edit: the reason I am wondering is because I downloaded a demo of Halo, and want to try it out on multiplayer, but it says that my video hardware doesn't meet the mininum video memory required for the game. I am still able to play Halo, but the graphics quality is very bad. I don't play too many games on the laptop, but want to have the option to. I've played Homeworld 2 on it before and it works fine.

I would leave it alone, If you want to have a gameing laptop you should upgrade it.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
