Watch when you start up the computer, see if it's listed. Then check the cables and the power plug, they may be loose.

Do you have Nero, Norton Antivirus or Easy CD Creator installed?

i dont have any of those installed when i go to device manager it shows but theres a yellow exclamation point beside it i unninstall the thing and restart my computer ,it detects it but doesnt know what to do when i click on properties it says Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) the troubleshooting part doesnt help i checked connections and everything looks fine

Drivers

Post by mitchb13 »

Well, in that case you need to download the drivers and reinstall it. What model is the drive and what operating system are you using?

Looks like the file is bad on the website, by any chance do you have a driver disk that came with the drive?

Recheck the cables and if that doesn't help I would try a new CD Drive. Chanches are it's defective. I had one die on me right after installing Windows updates. For a few hours I thought was the updates, but when I put it back in the old computer, with the original hard drive I found it no good, so I just bought a new one problem solved.
