Need help : Win XP SUPER SLOW!

Hi, My computer crashes and I reformatted it, installed Win XP Pro (SP1), then downloaded and installed SP2. The navigation around and everything seems super slow. When I try to open a folder, open a file, switch view between different application, everything is just slow. System Spec : P4 2.8 Ghz 512 MB RAM I tried to find a solution on the web and have turned off the unnecessary appearance features but to no avail. In my previous installation, the system has never been that slow even if I have many applications opened at the same time. Appreciate any advise on how to troubleshoot what is the root cause and how to overcome this problem. Thank you. Best regards, Jane

Is this computer connected to the Internet 24/7? While you had service pack 1 installed a worm may have slipped in. Download Hijack This at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html and post the log of what it finds so we can all see if there's anything running that shouldn't be.
