Mouse problems, or is it the monitor?

Post by Sumpin_Wong »

I recently purchased a new mouse, a Logitech G5 Laser mouse and have recently experienced a problem. The problem is that the monitor shuts off when I am inactive for a while (yes, I checked the settings in Power Options, the monitor should stay on.. never shutoff) I hit the reset button on the computer and do a hard shutdown, hoping that a reboot will magically make my shizz work again., but it doesn't. I leave the computer off for a short period of time, along with powering down the monitor.. and it runs like a raped ape again for hours. I have checked for updated drivers/software for the mouse and for the monitor.. nothing is available at this time. Does this sounds like a monitor issue, a mouse issue, or maybe even a Windows issue? I have been killin' myself trying to figure it out

Best way to eliminate the mouse is, if you attach an other mouse and work with that for a while. If all keeps on working fine then indeed it's the mouse, but if you have the same problems it must be something else (mainboard?)

Got another moniter you can hook up when it does this? IF you do try it and see if you are still getting display from the computer, if not it could be the graphics card
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
