Upgrade or New computer

Upgrade or New computer

My question is should I try to upgrade my Dell Dimension 8200 (Specs in signature) or just start over with a new system. I use it for surfing the net, chatting, playing games such as MDK2, HL and HL2. Right now I really can't afford the newer $3000+ gaming systems out there but I wouldn't mind a little improvement over what I have. Any advice would be appreciated :D
Dell Dimension 8200 Desktop, 2.2 GHz P4, 80GB WD HD, 512MB PC800 RDRAM, 128MB Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE Graphics. Dell Inspiron 5150 Laptop, 2.8 GHz P4, 40GB Fujitsu HD, 512MB RAM, 64MB Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 Graphics.

No offence but I have found Dell's aren't to upgradeable, but if you want get some more ram. I would go up to 1 gig that will help you out.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
