Upgrade or New computer

My question is should I try to upgrade my Dell Dimension 8200 (Specs in signature) or just start over with a new system. I use it for surfing the net, chatting, playing games such as MDK2, HL and HL2. Right now I really can't afford the newer $3000+ gaming systems out there but I wouldn't mind a little improvement over what I have. Any advice would be appreciated
