FAT32 & NTFS...

Post by joseneto »

Hi! Just wondering howcome my Acer Travelmate laptop`s Windows XP comes with FAT32 file system instead of the usual NTFS. Any reason I should change it? Tks in advance José Neto - Portugal

I would change it to NTFS, here is how. The file system is less prone to failure. Standard Windows utility that is called CONVERT serves this purpose Just go to the Command Prompt and execute the command: C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs Where C: is a name of the drive you want to convert. After machine re-boot conversion process will start and you'll have your FAT32 converted to NTFS without of data loss.
If I could remember all I have forgotten, I would be a smart man.
